HEALTH GUARANTEE
I am so pleased that
you have considered one of Alderwood’s Labradors a member of your
family. I'm sure you'll have many years of joy to look forward to. Our
Labs are intelligent, loving, and empathetic, sensitive to your mood and
aiming to please you. Do not hesitate to contact me with any question.
Love and positive reactions to positive behaviors is the best approach
to train your puppy. A firm "no" is all that is necessary to correct
negative behaviors. A puppy jumping up on your leg is cute...when that
puppy weighs 70 pounds and is muddy it is no longer cute. Intervene
early and don't allow such behaviors from the start. Remember, Labs are
people dogs and aim to please they are very intelligent but you must
teach them how to please you. No warranty can cover all potential
disease or illness. Have your puppy examined by a vet within the first
week of purchase. If the vet notes any problems contact me immediately.
We require a copy of the vet’s statement, the return of the pup at the
buyer's expense and we will provide a replacement if any genetically
based problem is detected. Internal and external parasites are not
covered by the guarantee as they are common in all environments; and
control and management of parasites is an ongoing aspect of responsible
dog ownership.
We will not be
responsible for any vet bills unless we have a prior agreement.
Contact me
via e-mail or phone before pursuing any vet bills unless the situation
is life threatening. With experience caring for Labs, I may be able to
suggest a remedy that will save you money on frivolous vet bills. There
are many products available over the counter and through mail and
internet stores that you can order that cost a fraction of what they
will cost you at the vet clinic.
Genetic defects in
my dogs have been rare. If I have puppies with minor defects I will have
the problem addressed, inform the buyer, and negotiate the possibility
of discounting the price. Other unusual defects will surface rarely in
dogs but even so I will guarantee for one year . Determination that the
problem is genetic in origin must be verified by unanimous agreement of
two vets and agreed on by both parties by a statistical probability
greater than chance of >.95. Diagnosis must be given by veterinarians
certified in the specialty. If you then wish, the puppy can be returned
to us and a comparable replacement will be provided at first
availability. Buyer is responsible for shipping costs incurred. If you
decide not to return the pup, then you are responsible for all future
care and costs.
If you consult us
you will find we often know of resources to acquire products quickly
that are marked up tremendously at your vet's due to the overhead and
liability they have; and sometimes unfortunately with some of them...
what appears to be flat out greed. Because you love your dog, it is easy
to say do whatever you can for him or her, only to find your bill is in
the hundreds or even thousands of dollars for something trivial,
untreatable, or easily treated. Always ask what the procedures, possible
treatments, and costs will be before allowing them to proceed so you can
make an informed decision.
I realize your
living circumstances might change and if you need to find a new home for
your dog please contact me and I will assist you in an effort to do so.
Please do not take the dog to a pound or dump him on the streets.
Contact me and we will work hard together to find an alternative. This
guarantee does not apply to a transfer of a dog from you to a new owner.
I will provide
health records of immunizations, wormings, etc.. It is your critical
responsibility to continue to provide the preventative health measures
needed. Shipping costs are the responsibility of the buyer. No
guarantees are implied that a dog will be a show champion or a field
trial winner, even though potential appears to exist in the puppy.
Thank you and I know
you will find years of enjoyment with your new best friend.
